PRE-PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTION LEGAL SERVICES INCLUDE:

  • Drafting and finalizing any outstanding agreements to secure the necessary underlying rights in connection with your project

  • Negotiating and drafting all above-the-line deals for directors, talent, producers, and writers

  • Providing and negotiating all necessary day-to-day production contracts, including appearance releases and performer agreements, crew agreements, location agreements, and vendor agreements

  • Helping to manage and support your producers or clearance coordinators by providing all necessary clearance forms (materials releases and licenses), advising on complex clearance issues (concerning the use of third party names, logos, artwork, and materials), negotiating clearance forms with rightsholders, and preparing legal opinion letters in connection with fair use, title reports, copyright reports, and chain of title

  • Counseling you through the employment of child performers, including contracting with minors, working with litigation counsel through the court approval of minor contracts as necessary, and advising on all applicable regulations, including permitting, accounting to Coogan Accounts, hiring studio teachers, and implementing work-hour limitations

  • Providing, negotiating, and closing all necessary music licensing deals and composer agreements for original music

  • Counseling through the guild signatory application process, and advising on union compliance (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, and IATSE)

POST-PRODUCTION LEGAL SERVICES INCLUDE:

  • Negotiating and finalizing post-production agreements with editors and post houses

  • Conducting content review to ensure all intellectual property and clearance matters, privacy tort issues, and hidden or unsuspected legal issues are identified and addressed

  • Supporting producers or clearance coordinators in finalizing clearance matters, agreements, and reports

  • Ensuring all contractual obligations concerning credits, name and likeness approval, creative approval, third party material use restrictions, and all other specifically agreed upon terms were addressed

  • Working with post supervisors and producers to ensure all legal deliverables are properly compiled for final delivery
